Last week my neighbor had some tree trimming done and the branches are sitting on the street in front of her house. Almost every day the kids and I walk by it and everyday I have been enamored by this pile of debris. The colors of the moss on all the dead branches were gorgeous! A couple of days this week I made the boys grab a handful on the way home (what, mom wants us to pick up sticks?!) and carry them home for me. I’m so happy I did–they are so inspiring! (We city-folk gotta get our nature somewhere–even from our neighbor’s debris pile…)
I love the pops of chartreuse and orange among all the gray and mossy green…
They blended so nicely with the grays on the walls and mantel, the blue hydrangeas in the old ironstone pitcher on the table, and even brought out the gold in the bees wax candles.
As the chandelier shows, I obviously have a thing for organic, sculptural forms. I may go back for more branches and create bundles to sell on the website soon. Or even do something like this:

I love these branches as a focal point over an outdoor dining table.
What do you think? Would you ever bring home a bunch of sticks or am I crazy?

Not crazy at all — unless I am too!
They really are gorgeous. I can see why you brought them home. They look gorgeous on your mantel and do nicely repeat the organic quality of the chandelier!
Love that idea! The orange on those branches is just incredible!
Mother Nature does it best! I just did the same with some branches from our yard – it’s like sculpture in my dining room now. Yours look great – nicely done!
You are not crazy! Mom made a similar arrangement for the mantel at their place in Cashiers. It’s a great look.

Love that idea and we have mint going wild in our yard! I’ll have to pull some and try it in little pots like that–so pretty!
